1971 - On day two of The Who's U.S. tour, a security guard was stabbed to death at Forest Hills Stadium in New York.

1976 - Blue Oyster Cult released their hit song "Don't Fear The Reaper."

1979 - James Taylor performed a free show in New York's Central Park to aid The Big Apple’s campaign to restore the park's Sheep Meadow.

1980 - John Phillips of The Mamas and Papas was arrested by the FBI for cocaine possession. The musician earned a five year prison term, but opted to lecture against drugs for 250 hours as an alternate sentence.

1981 - Blondie singer Debra Harry released her solo album Koo Koo.
